Plasma Cannon Wip

So one of my Tactical Squads has a Plasma Cannon in it and I decided to work on it this week. So far its about 70% done. Need to do some layering and edge highlights it finish it up.

On with the Pics!

Here we have the Plasma with just the basecoat and a wash of Badab Black.

Same as above but from the other side.

 Close up of the Cannon.

Backside of the Pack.

 Front side of the Pack

Okay so now we get to the good stuff. I've place the first layer of color which is Codex Grey. Also did up the wires and bits up in Blood Red.

Front of the Pack

 The Plasma Cannon

I have placed a lot of work into the Coils of the Cannon. Trying to get the sense of power moving forward to the right side of the cannon. Did a lot of layering of different shades of blue. Started out with Regal Blue for the Base. Then I jumped to Enchanted Blue. After that I mixed Enchanted Blue with some Skull Skull with about 60%-40%. Then went to an Enchanted Blue and Skull White about 40%-60%. At the time of the Photo I haven't placed a highlight of Skull White yet. I think it looks good of the first time of mixing my own paint and doing something as ambitious as this.

So let me know what you all think.

In the Mood to Create - Sternguard bolters and wrist mount boltpistol

As the title says the past two nights I have been messing around in my Bitz Box for something to do. Mind you these are on my to do list that I wrote up, and it was an idea that has been burning in my head for a while.

Well on with the pics.

So this is the wrist mounted bolter I was working on. All it really needs is a little green stuff to fill gaps and add some more details. Also add an ejection port for spent bolt casing.

A look form the other side. Right under the Magazine well I'm going to green stuff some sort of connection to the weapon so the hand has  way to trigger the weapon to fire.

Here you can see the side Mag assembly.

And these are the Sternguard Boltguns I converted. The drum mag came for the Sister of battle Storm bolters.

Had some fun with all the conversions and hoping to so some more. I'll post a Tutorial for both some time this week.
As always let me know what you think.

Basing WIPS

Well about a week ago my friend brought over a container of sand he uses for his bases. He just uses it as is, but I wanted to control where I use the materials on my bases. So with a couple of sifters from the kitchen I went through the container and placed the end results in separate tubs.

Have a look, this is what I started with. Not bad to just start with.

This is what I ended up with.

 Some very fine sand

A mix of fine and small rock.

Some bigger rock.

So with these I did up a couple of bases as a test on what I could do with the different tubs. Got some Inspiration from Ron at From the Warp  on his post about improving his basing, as well as the tutorial section over there.

Well here they are.

So this is the very fine sand only.

This is the combo of fine and small rock.

This is the same combo of the two with added bits and some spruce.

So any way let me know what you all think. I really like the last one and it fits the urban rubble look that im going for.

Well I'm Still Here Pt. 2

Just a heads up on what's up.

Ok still here laying about the house somewhere. Been working on my Tatical Squads and Preadator. Lots of Real Life in the way, but its going to get better. Going to have alot more time for the hobby as I'm putting the little one in School. But that also means NO money to get hobby stuff.(i'm a sad panda)

Lets see what else.

Got the Chapter load out for every Marine, Vehicle and Support element down on paper. Transfering it to the laptop on Excel. Namining everyone as well (alot to name).

Trying to set up a Painting Jam with some friends to get better at painting.

OH the best part.

Met a guy who live close by who plays 40k. (plays Dark Eldar xeno scum) We played a few games and a really cool guy(hate his Wyches). But the cool things is he's a GREAT painter I'm taking GW 'Eavy Metal team style. Thats who's brain we are going to pick at the Painting Jam. Looking foward to that in two weeks.

And thats about it. Just had to get my thoughts down.

Rant over.
