Thanksgiving Hobby Work

So after I did all my chores and cleaned around the house for tonight's dinner, my wife gave me some time to work on some of my Marines. I did get a lot kinda done. It's a start.

So on with the Pictures.
Some Terminators of the first company. being used as a test for the rest.

Primed my Sternguard.

This is my indulgence miniature. I'm think maybe paint as Imperial Fist, or Black Templar.

Some extra marines as well as the Plasma gunner for 2nd Squad.

So this is Brother Crispin of 2nd Squad. I think this is so far my best work. Even more so than my Captain. I went away from the Drybrushing and did straight layering with extreme highlights.
I think he looks a hell of a lot better than just drybrushing.

So anyway let me all know what you all think.

And Happy Thanksgiving.

Captain Marcus 95% Done

Well for the past week (to get me back into painting after the lack of wanting to paint) I decided to paint my ABOR captain. This took me about 6 days at about 12 hours in total. All that's left is the Power Pack and the Base.

So let me know what you all think and if I can improve on anything.

EDIT: I hate how pictures show things you miss hes not 95% more like 92% but its minor things. More highlights and minor fixes. But in my eyes he's still 95%.

Well I'm Still Here

Life can and will get the best of you. Especially if it's a game call "Halo: Reach". The game is really great but im sad that its the supposed last one in the series.

But back to hobby news. My game with my buddy last month was a disaster. I couldn't roll for the life of me and did some bad mistakes. But live and learn. it was fun even though I was almost wiped of the board. Scott played a good game and killed my army to 3 men in a tower. Horrible game, but fun. (I still cry when I think about it, Damm Necrons.)

But during this time I have been away I have been thinking where I want to go with this hobby. What keeps me doing this? Why do I invest my time to this when I have so many more hobbies?

And I decided it wasn't playing the Game, it was the Fluff.

I started to noticed it when I was at work. I must have read the SM Codex maybe five times and every story, every picture had me. The struggle, the Last Stands of an Empire, and the Heroes of it all.

See I'm a sucker for lost causes and final stands. (Explains why I play Firefight in Halo a lot.)

So with the time I have I have been writing Fluff and reading more over at the B&C Forums (Bolter & Chainsword) and just getting a feel of where I want my Chapter to fit in. Been looking at Galaxy Maps looking for a home, writing combat docs, figuring what founding we were made from, and even the most smallest of details I've been thinking about.

But there is something I DO know that i want to do.

And that is Boys and Girls......

I'm not just talking about the 1,000 brothers. I'm talking about doing everyone. Every vehicle, Tech-marine, Servitor, Apothecary, Libby, and Chappy. I even want to do the BFG ships for my own.

I have already started the planing phase. I have the Chapter Master, Honor Guard, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Company load outs. Every piece of Wargear that they have.

I'm Working on the Armory right now got the Tech-Marines wargear down. Just have to do the Vehicles.

Mind you, this is all Planing right now and I'm working on putting it all on a  Spreadsheet for ease of refrence as well as when I start Assembly and Painting. I'll use it as a guide.

Well that's all I have going on right now. Not much to show for at the moment. But I's still painting just got to get out of a rut of not wanting to.

(End Rant)

P.S. May be I'll ask my Wife for a Thunderhawk for Christmas.

Not As Close As I Thought

Well it's Friday. That means in two days its time for the 750 game with my friend Scott. I got nowhere near where I though I would be. But its okay.Well have a great game and I'm going to Smash his Necron force.

So here is some pics of where I am as of today.
Here is Second Squad's Squad leader Novius. It is the Responsibility of the Squad leader to carry the Aspex and call out enemies to the Heavy Weapon Marine, and to direct the squad when the Sergent is away or when they are broken up into combat squads.

He and everyone else on this post got the base colors and washes on him and that's it.

So here is the first half of 2nd Squad. From left to right: Brother Jacobo, Brother Auxilius,
Veteran Sgt. Gaius, Brother Dexion, and Brother Crispin.

And here we have the second half of 2nd Squad. From left to right we have: Brother Lucan, Brother Cicero, Squad Leader Novius, Brother Carbo, and Brother Albinius.

This is 3rd Squad's Squad Leader Sextus. Was able to start up on him but didn't get to Finnish.

So that's all I got.

On Another Note I found the Macro Setting on my camera and the Pics are nice. Never thought I would find it or even had one on the camera.

So anyways let me know what ya'll think.

More Progress

Did some more work on the army this past week but not much. Been mostly putting the base colors for all the metallic colors on the rank and file marines. But I did get to finish my 2nd Squad Sergent and I am very happy with how he came out.
So here is he in all his glory. I'm just having trouble on what to put on his Banner, I can never decide. Another thing is what to put on his talbard. RARW so many decisions.

Well let me know what ya'll think.

Progress on the Army

Progress is going along SLOWLY but surely. Did a little work on the Second Squad. Done so far is Basecoat and a heavy wash of Badab Black.

Still need to prime and finish the heavy weapon marine.

Having a bit of trouble deciding who to use as my Captain. The one on the left was the original Mini I was going to use but it didn't come off as he was wearing Artificer Armor. The one on the right is the ABOR Captain and he is ornate enough to look like he is wearing Artificer armor.  The weapons don't matter as the are both power weapons and the bolter has hellfire rounds.

So let me know what you all think.

Sisters of The Moonlight

So like I said in my last post, my wife wants to start an army of Sisters of Battle. I'm going to go over what she likes and come up with a 400pt list for our Combat Patrol games me and my buddy likes to play.

These are the colors she picked out.

So she then asked me if she could paint one of my Marines just to try it out. So I let her. But before she did anything I made it very clear that she need to be careful with the brushes and paints.

So this is what she made with my available paints.
So the hands are painted Elf Flesh because my wife thought they didn't have any gloves on for some odd reason. But she tried her best and learned it was a lot harder that she thought. I love my wife she can be funny some times.

But anyways I'm still working on the 750pt list painting some red company stripes on some helmets and starting off a few more with basecoats. Will post some more when I get some good work done. So everyone let my wife know what you all think about her Ideas.

Awesome Day to a Four Day Weekend

Well it was a really good day today. My family and I went down to the beach today to take my daughter to see the Pacific Ocean. She had fun except the water was a little to cold for her. So she got some shells for her grandma.
My Daughter and Wife.
So after the beach we went to get some lunch. my wife wanted to take me to a place called Lucille's BBQ. had a great lunch. Got me some Baby Back Ribs and BBQ Tri-Tip with Beans and Mac & Cheese(my FAV!).
Food Yum.
But I guess you are wondering why I'm posting all this on a blog about Warhammer. So I'll let you know.

It was a cool place lots of tables and all with a different theme to them, lots of cases with nicely painted armys of all the armies of Warhammer 40k and Fantasy. But the coolest thing I thought was seeing the Forge World Reaver and Warhound Titans and seeing how big they really are instead of on the Web.

And the best thing about being there was that my wife allowed me to get some supplies from the store.
Basing Kit
Snow Flock
Barbed Wire.
So it was a really GREAT day today. But that's not the last of the cool things that happened. My wife the love of my life has expressed an interest in the hobby. She wants to paint one of my Space Marines to see if she would like painting. So if she likes it, she wants her own Sisters of Battle army. She even has a name for them, "Sisters of the moonlight" from Reno (try to guess the reference).

Such an Awesome day today.

I have been Challenged as well.

Like the title says "I have been Challenged" by my buddy Scott over at Legions-of-Nekheny. I found it quite funny he called me his "BFF" (what are we 13 year old girls lol). Its okay he is the guy who got in to 40K with me overseas and who I battle with at least once a month. But next month, September 12th, things are going down and getting bloody. We have set up a 750 point game at the FLGS, Adventures Guild of Riverside, and I have to paint up my army before that time.

So I want to post my 750pt Space Marine are list that's going to battle the Evil Necron hordes.

Space Marine Captain     155pts
Relic Blade +30pts
Hellfire Rounds +10pts
Artificer Armor +15pts

10 Man Tactical Squad    185pts
Meltagun +5pts
Lascannon +10pts

10 Man Tactical Squad    170pts
Flammer +FREE
Missile Launcher +FREE

Predator Tank                 95pts
Heavy Bolter Sponsons +25pts
Storm Bolter +10pts

5 Man Sternguard Veteran Squad    160pts
Drop Pod +35pts

TOTAL: 750pts

So with every thing listed I'll write down what I have to do:
  1. Paint the Captain (Primed)
  2. Paint the Predator. (Primed)
  3. Finish 3 Marines and all Backpacks and Bolters of the 3rd Squad (Primed)
  4. Paint 2nd Tactical Squad (Primed)
  5. Reassemble a NEW Drop Pod and Paint.
  6. Prime and Paint 5 Sternguard.
So thats what i have to do before September 12th. Let me know what you think and WISH me luck.

Comand Squad

Well Got some work done. Started on a Command Squad. Cant wait to paint them up, but I have to get better at painting first lol.

Not Dead Just Busy - Sergents

Well I have been busy for the past few week. Real life and work gets in the way some times but you do what you have to. I have had some hobby time but not enough to post some thing. So I'll show you what i have been working on.

So this is one of the new Sgt. i have been working on. He will be armed with a Bolter. All I have done on him is prime, basecoat, wash, and drybrush, but I have started to get him ready for the gold and silvers.

So here is another Sgt. he is armed with Boltgun and Powerfist.

And the last one for tonight armed with Bolt Pistol and Chainsword.

Well everyone let me know what you think and I should be making more Posts from now on.

New House and Finally Got the Net Hook Up

So I'm in my new house. Everything is everywhere and nowhere at the same time. Weird. Well I have been busy making a Command Squad for the chapter but no time for painting. Also Started a new Tactical Squad and starting on an Ironclad Dreadnought (its in pieces). Well hopefully I get some more time to get some Pics up and when I do it will be nice.  So everyone Stay Tuned.

I hate the Desert -Another Vanguard Veteran

Well we are still in the process of moving but last night was awful. My wife woke me up around 2 this morning say it was "Freaking Hot." Come to find out our AC died and so the whole house is hot, and living in a desert it sucks really bad. So now we sit in a hot house for the AC guy to get here, but its okay the AC guy is the dad of a friend of mine and I know how busy he is during the summer. So we'll sweat it out for a bit.

But you all are here for some minis so here you go another Vanguard Veteran.
